EVENTS IN THE LOCAL AREA

Orienteering is one of the fastest growing sports in Britain, which combines cross country running (or walking) with navigation, using a compass & specially drawn map.

South Ribble Orienteering Club – the orienteering club for Preston, Lancaster & the surrounding area, will be hosting the following events this spring / early summer incorporating the summer club league:

Wed 8^th June 2005 6.30-7.30	Worden Park, Leyland GR SD 542 212	Yellow, Orange, and a Head-to-head multi loop race for the experienced
Wed 15^th June 2005 6.30-7.30	Williamson Park, Lancaster GR SD 488 612	Orange, Red and technical score course
Sun 19^th June 2005 10.30-12.30	Beacon Fell, Nr Garstang GR SD 564 425	Orange, Red, Green (medium, difficult) and Blue (longer, difficult)
Wed 29^th June 2005 6.30-7.30	Witton Park, Blackburn GR SD 662 272	Orange, Red and technical score course

Courses suitable for both newcomers to the sport and more experienced orienteers.

Cost: Wednesday events: £2 seniors / £1 juniors

Sunday events: £3.50 seniors / £1.50 juniors

What to bring: A compass if you have one, outdoor clothes inc. a cagoule if it is wet (no shorts) & a pair of trainers
