START LIST:-  Start list

VENUE:- Due west of Kendal, Cumbria.  Access from Kendal town centre. 

TRAVEL:- From the South, exit M6 at J36 and follow signs to Kendal town centre.  Keep left on joining the one-way system and turn left at first major junction (signed).  Follow "O" signs from here, 2km to car park off Brigsteer road.  From Northwest, approach Kendal on the A5284 and turn right, following "O" signs, before entering the town.  From all other directions join the one-way system to head North on the A6 and pick up the "O" signs from the directions from the South. 

ASSEMBLY & PARKING:- Field parking off the Brigsteer road at GR500911.  The parking area is small. Please share transport if at all possible (please use SROC Message Board to volunteer and arrange lifts). We may have to overspill 1km from the assembly onto road side parking to the North. Follow waymarking to assembly (a safe route off the road).  Assembly is adjacent to the main parking field and start for all courses is 400m walk.   

REGISTRATION:- From 10.00 - 12.00hrs.  Starts from 10.30 - 12.30 hrs.  All pre-entries with own e-card go straight to the start.  Colour Coded eod is £4 / £2.  White, yellow, orange, light green and red..

BADGE LATE ENTRY  Accepted up to 2nd May with surcharge and with standard entry details emailed or telephoned, to reserve map, to Dave Johnstone, 01772-783745 (before 10pm) david@dsjvjj.freeserve.co.uk.  Surcharge entry fees are:- £9.50, £4, £25.  EOD subject to map availability (We will NOT have map printing on the day, contrary to earlier suggesetions).

E-PUNCHING :- All courses except String will use SI.  E-cards may be hired from Registration @ 50p.  Loss of e-card will incur a charge of £22.

SAFETY :- Competitors take part at their own risk.  Whistles are strongly advised.  Cagoules may be compulsory (notified at registration).  Area is exposed.  Competitors travelling alone are requested to leave car keys and their details at registration.  The area includes loose limestone rock which is slippery if wet.  Scout Scar is a steep ridge, which is the boundary for all but the longer courses.  Only courses 1, 2 & 3 descend Scout Scar on a compulsory waymarked route.  The area has sheep and therefore there is a slight risk of E-coli infection and ticks.  Competitors are advised to wash hands before eating.   

ALL COMPETITORS MUST DOWNLOAD ASAP AFTER FINISHING EVEN IF RETIRING PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE EVENT WITHOUT DOWNLOADING

First Aid will be present.  MR have been notified.  

DOGS :- Strictly on a lead only and at all times and only in the car parking and assembly areas.  This is sheep country. .

MAP & TERRAIN : -  Mostly open or semi-open limestone surface fell. North/South ridge steeply descending to the West (Scout Scar). This is the West boundary for all courses except 1, 2 & 3. These courses descend the escarpment to include Barrowfield Wood which was badly affected by the winter gales. The map for all courses is at scale 1:10,000 with 5 metre contour intervals. It is an updated version of that used for the 2004 Blodslitet. Map size is A4 for all courses. The map for courses 1 to 3 is printed on both sides. Significant areas of fallen trees are shown on the map by green cross-hatching. Uncrossable walls are marked by a continuous purple line. Maps for all courses (including colour coded) will be overprinted including the control description and in sealed bags.

CROSSING POINTS :- Only marked crossing points must be used.  Walls must not be climbed.  Crossing points are a mixture of existing stiles and gates and temporary crossings, including ladder stiles. 

CONTROL SITES  : - Control kites will be hung from metal stakes with the control unit on the
top of the stake. If the control unit is not working then the punch hung from
the stake should be used to punch on the map.

START :- There is a single start for all courses, waymarked from Assembly (400m).  Allow 10 mins.  All courses will use a punching start.  Competitors will be allocated start times in blocks of 10 mins from 10.30 to 12.30 (12 blocks) + a 30 min late start block if required.  Please make your start block time if possible.  JM/W 1 & 2 and White and Yellow courses will be available for inspection in the Assembly area.  The finish is close to the Assembly area.  The will be no clothing return from the start.

FINISH AND DOWNLOAD :- There will be a single finish for all courses, close to Assembly.  Drinks will not be provided.  Courses close at 3.00pm  Do not forget to "Punch" at the finish and download ASAP.

STRING COURSE :- A free string course is located close to Assembly.  The course is not suitable for pushchairs. 

TRADERS :- Compass Point and the NW Junior Squad refreshment stall will be present.
