SROC Regional Event - Planners Notes1. Unusually for the time of the year, the bracken has persisted longer than normal. Up on the high fells this provides no problems but on the lower fells progress might be impeded. 2. The courses have been planned being conscious of the safety implications of running an orienteering event over open fell in November. For this reason the junior courses JM/W1 to JM/W3 have been confined by a fell wall that the rest of the courses will cross. Please advise children on these courses that they do not need to cross over any ladder stiles. They do however cross through a gap in a wall and pass through open gates. Courses JM/W1&2 have taped routes to their courses that will be marked on the map and the map control descriptions. All three of these junior courses have a separate finish near the assembly area/bus pick-up. 3. Crossing of the wall by the longer courses must be made via the ladder stiles. Anyone found climbing the wall will be disqualified. 4. Similar to the system used at the Twin Peaks event the SI units will not be staked but will be attached to the kite via a cord lying on the ground. The control code will be visible on the SI unit. 5. To enable us to retrieve the controls before dark there will be a rolling closure of controls on the longer courses. The time for this will be written in the last column of the control descriptions, e.g. 14:00 will indicate a 2pm closure of that control. They have been realistically set in line with the final course closure time. Courses Close 2.30pmCourse Number Classes Length(km) Climb (m) 1
