- How much further can you go on a path route compared to a straighter alternative?
- Is it quicker to go over or round that hill?
- When you get to a control do you stop to work out your route to the next?
- What are attack points and why are they useful?
- How do you know how far you've gone?
- What's it like using a thumb compass?

To summarise, a number of exercises will be available covering compass work,
map simplification, route choice, control flow, distance judgement and much
