NW Night League - Ulpha Fell & Woods

South Ribble Orienteering Club invite you to take part in the first North West Night League event of the 2003-2004 season.

Utilising, for the first time, the top quality South lakes area of Ulpha Fell & Woods near Grange over Sands.

Location: parking at Ulpha Farm, grid reference SD 452 814.

Directions: from the North or South, leave M6 at junction 36 and follow A590 West signed Barrow in Furness. After approx 10 miles (and 400m after the start of a section of dual carriageway) turn left on a minor road signed Ulpha. After just over a mile turn left into the farm entrance. From the West approach on A590. 1.5 miles after the roundabout at the foot of Lindale Hill turn right from the dual carriageway signed Ulpha, then as above.

Terrain: a mixture of two wooded hills separated by an area of rough open. All consisting of intricate contours with some crags and mainly good runnability.

Map: surveyed by Martin Bagness with updates by Paul Ferguson October 2003. All courses pre-marked, bring a map bag. Scale 1:7500 or 1:5000 depending on course.

Courses: usual NW Night League courses, ie Orange - suitable for beginners to night orienteering. Green and Blue - for more experienced competitors.

Electronic Punching: Sport Ident electronic punching will be used.

Fees: £3.50/£1.50 plus 50p e-card hire if required.

Registration: open from 5.30pm.

Starts: from 6pm to 7pm. Courses close at 8.30pm.

Results: results will be on display on the night. Full results and splits will be posted on www.sroc.org as soon as possible after the event.
